Ovarian Cysts: Dr. Daiter, Eric, MD

Ovarian cysts are fluid-filled sacks on or within the ovaries. Many women, especially of reproductive age, have ovarian cysts at one time or another. Most ovarian cysts are harmless and painless and they require no treatment. Functional non-threatening cysts such as these dissipate on their own in a matter of months.
Though many ovarian cysts cause no pain or symptoms, there are several symptoms to watch out for that can indicate ovarian cysts of a more serious nature. Ruptured ovarian cysts can lead to palpable and sometimes serious symptoms.
There is a range of possible ovarian cyst symptoms and many of them are similar to those symptoms of other conditions such as, ectopic pregnancy, ovarian cancer, endometriosis, or pelvic inflammatory disease. One common symptom of ovarian cysts is a dull aching in the abdominal area. Other symptoms include abdominal pain or pressure caused by a ruptured cyst, pain during sexual intercourse, painful or delayed periods, tender breasts, nausea, or pain during bowel movements.
There are a few different types of ovarian cysts. A functional cyst is formed during ovulation as a result of egg production. This is the type of cyst typically goes away on its own. A dermoid cyst is filled with tissues that include skin or hair. An endometrioma cyst forms when tissue similar to the uteral lining attaches to the ovaries. Cystadenoma cysts occur on the cells on the outside of the ovaries. Polycystic ovarian disease can occur when several cysts cause the ovaries to swell and produce a substantial outer covering on the ovaries that can cause infertility issues as it can prevent ovulation altogether.
Women who are on oral contraceptives rarely have functional cysts due to the fact that this method of contraception stops ovulation. For this reason, doctors sometimes prescribe oral contraceptives to shrink functional ovarian cysts. Ovarian cysts that do not respond to hormonal treatment may require surgery.
Early detection of ovarian cysts can be key in resolving the issue with less extensive and invasive treatments. Women that have had ovarian cysts before are more likely to develop cysts again. Ovarian cysts coupled with endometriosis can sometimes lead to the necessary removal of the ovaries. Ovarian cysts in post menopausal women are more likely to have malignancies.
Regular pelvic exams will help with the early detection of ovarian cysts. If you experience sudden intense pelvic or abdominal pain especially if it is accompanied by fever and vomiting, please seek immediate medical attention.

Dr. Eric Daiter, MD: Staff Testimonials

Choosing an infertility specialist can be a challenge if you don’t know what you’re looking for. Often, doctors, nurses and patients have offered their testimonials about their experiences with Dr. Eric Daiter, MD. If you’re looking for an infertility specialist, read these testimonials and maybe they’ll help you get an idea of what you’re looking for in a doctor.
-I have been the Embryology Director at IVF New Jersey for nearly 13 years. Dr. Eric Daiter has been performing his in vitro fertilization cycles at our clinic for more than 5 years. I work very closely with him and have been able to see how he interacts with his patients and the caring way he individualizes all of their treatments. Dr. Eric Daiter has the rare combination of intelligence, knowledge of his field and incredibly warm bed-side manner. His patients truly seem to bond with him. As a person who has been working in the medical field for 18 years, I can honestly say that I’ve met very few physicians who truly care about their patients like Dr. Eric Daiter does. In addition, he always treats the lab and nursing staff with respect and thoughtfulness. He is just a kind, decent and down-to-earth person.
-I was a staff nurse for 14 years and have, on many occasions, had the pleasure of working with Dr. Eric Daiter. I have known Dr. Eric Daiter for several years (approximately 10 years), both professionally, as a nurse, and as a patient. From a professional point of view, Dr. Eric Daiter has always exhibited professionalism, great regard for his patients, taking time to answer questions and reassure them preoperatively. He was always concerned about the condition of his patients intraoperatively – frequently checking the status of fluid intake, output and vital signs. He exemplifies caring and compassion. I was always impressed that a busy physician, when he was with his patients, acted like he had all the time in the world.
-I am a registered nurse in the Surgical Day Stay Unit. I have been an R.N. for 24 years and have known Dr. Eric Daiter as a surgeon for about 10 years. I have always found him to be extremely knowledgeable, thorough, kind and professional. Through comments to his patients, I have learned that he has been very helpful in diagnosing and treating these women with their problems of infertility and pelvic pain.
Dr. Eric Daiter has always been readily available if the staff needed to reach him regarding the care of his patients. However, we usually don’t need to call him, since he calls himself to check on the progress of his post op patients. I always see him speaking at length with the family or spouse of his patients, providing them with detailed information about the surgery and the findings.
-I am a hospital staff nurse in New Jersey. I have been employed at the hospital for the last 19 years and have known Dr. Eric Daiter since 1996 when he first started to perform surgery in our operating room.
I have worked with Dr. Eric Daiter on many of his cases and have always found him to have only one thing on his mind during each case and that is the well being of his patient. I have worked many long days and into the evenings and he never had anything but concern for the care his patient was receiving. Even when we would be in the Operating Room for long hours he has been nothing but professional and kind, even when the hour was late and the staff was tired.

Dr. Eric Daiter, MD Patient Testimonials

Dr. Eric Daiter’s patients have often offered their opinions about Dr. Eric Daiter. If you are looking for an infertility specialist, then please read these testimonials and consider Dr. Eric Daiter for your treatment needs.
I was referred to Dr. Eric Daiter by my OB-GYN in early 2002. Dr. Eric Daiter offers extended office hours for the convenience of his patients. As a result, my husband and I were able to get an appointment within a few days. Before even meeting Dr. Eric Daiter, I was happy with the way he accommodated us. After meeting with him, I was very pleased to have been referred to him. He was extremely professional, taking the time to thoroughly explain to us all of the available procedures, their ramifications, and their potential outcomes. I felt very comfortable to continue the pursuit to identify and understand the cause of our infertility under the care of Dr. Eric Daiter.
I had the following procedures performed by Dr. Eric Daiter: uterine biopsy, hysterosalpingogram, hysteroscopy and laparoscopy. In general, each procedure was completed safely, successfully and without complications. Before each procedure, Dr. Eric Daiter explained, in detail, what I could expect during each procedure and what the possible outcomes would be. Dr. Eric Daiter never progressed to the next step until he was certain that all of my questions had been addressed and I felt comfortable with the upcoming procedure. I trusted Dr. Eric Daiter because I felt he was committed to me and my husband and our quest to find the root of our infertility. I value Dr. Eric Daiter as a professional, but more importantly as a caring and compassionate human being. The attention he displays through his commitment toward his profession and patients made us feel as if he was truly an interested party and not just a detached professional.
My first impression of Dr. Eric Daiter was that he was a very kind hearted person with a passion for what he was doing. He treated my husband and me with the utmost respect. Dr. Eric Daiter examined me and asked a lot of questions regarding my history. He explained things to us in great detail and in simple terms that we could understand. Dr. Eric Daiter wrote everything down for us and gave us additional documentation to read regarding tests and treatments. He spent as much time as we needed, answered all of our questions and walked us to the door. He never rushed us or made us feel that any of our questions were too stupid to ask. It was the first time that I didn’t feel like I had 30 seconds to present my problem and 3 minutes of the doctor’s time before I was out the door. Infertility is a delicate subject and a problem for many couples. It takes a special personality to be able to handle this in a delicate way with compassion and professionalism. Dr. Eric Daiter does this. He made me feel like I was not alone. He let me know that there was a lot that can be done to facilitate pregnancy today and that there definitely was hope for us. Although my age was a factor, Dr. Eric Daiter never made me feel like I was “too old” to try or made me feel embarrassed for trying at my age.
